How this calculation works
Litres needed = monthly kilometres × litres per 100 km ÷ 100. Fuel cost is litres multiplied by your chosen pump price; parking and tolls are added to the monthly total. The price-change comparison holds distance and consumption constant.
A worked example
1 200 km at 7 L/100 km uses 84 litres. At an illustrative R23.50 per litre, fuel is R1 974. Adding R200 parking and R100 tolls gives R2 274 per month.
Assumptions & limitations
- Pump prices and consumption are user inputs, not live prices or manufacturer promises.
- Travel and consumption stay constant for the comparison.
- Finance, insurance, maintenance, tyres and licensing are excluded; add them separately to a full vehicle budget.
