How this calculation works
Gross overtime equals ordinary hourly pay × overtime hours × the agreed multiplier. The extra income tax is the annual tax difference when this period’s overtime is added once to your other annual taxable income.
A worked example
R150 × 10 hours × 1.5 gives R2 250 gross. At R360 000 other taxable income, the estimated extra income tax is R585, before UIF or other payroll deductions.
Assumptions & limitations
- The starting 1.5 multiplier is an example. BCEA coverage, earnings thresholds, agreements, Sunday/public holiday rules and paid time off can change your entitlement. Confirm your contract; this tool does not determine eligibility.
- Net estimate deducts income tax only; this overtime amount is added once, not assumed every month.
