How this calculation works
Starting in your chosen month, cap each end-of-month contribution at the remaining R46 000 tax-year allowance and R500 000 lifetime allowance. Reset the annual allowance in March. Growth does not use contribution allowance.
A worked example
With R45 000 already contributed this year, the next planned R3 000 deposit is capped at R1 000 until the next March reset, provided lifetime capacity remains.
Assumptions & limitations
- 2026/27 annual allowance is R46 000; lifetime allowance is R500 000 across all your TFSAs. Withdrawals do not restore either allowance. Growth is not a contribution.
- Future limits are held at today’s amounts for this illustration, not asserted as future law. Already-excess contributions are outside this planner’s scope; SARS can tax excess at 40%. Returns must be after fees.
