THE WORKINGS

How this calculation works

Subtract running costs and finance service fees from the monthly budget. Solve the balloon amortisation formula for the maximum vehicle price, accounting for your deposit and financed fee, then round down to cents.

A worked example

With R1 000 available for finance, 12 months at 0%, no deposit or balloon, the maximum price is R12 000.

Assumptions & limitations

  • This is a budget estimate, not credit approval. The balloon is still due at the end. Your deposit cannot be borrowed again in this model. Finance rates stay constant; affordability checks and lender balloon limits may differ.
